Reliance on a Backup Heat Source

While looking for a company that specializes in HVAC repair in NYC, I had to pull out the old space heater in my home to keep warm. I bought the heater many years ago just in case I needed it. It had been sitting in the back of the closet for many years without any use, but this year it came in handy. My heater suddenly stopped working one day and the space heater was my temporary solution while searching for the right company. The heater only puts out enough heat to heat one room and nothing else, but I was only in one room at a time, and no one else lived with me.

Waiting for the heat from a space heater to fill up an entire room isn’t fun at all. I closed the door and make sure that no air was leaking out by putting a towel under the door, but it still took a while. One the room was warm enough, it wasn’t so bad. Of course, I had to do this all over again when it was time for bed. I couldn’t exactly sleep with the heater on because it made so much noise, much more than a regular box fan anyway.

Eventually I was able to get the heating system repaired when I found and contacted a company to do the work. After that, I was glad that I was able to put my space heater back into the closet. Although it did help me out in a tight spot, I don’t want to have to use it again. Now I can just set the thermostat again whenever I need heat, and it will take care of the rest. Even when I come home from work, the house is already warm because the thermostat will adjust the temperature during the day.
